Baby Jack now weighs 2 pounds! With a length of about 14 inches, he is about the size of a cucumber. He is now opening those precious eyes. Of course, there isn’t much to look at in there but he’s checking it all out. I read that more movement may be noticed now that he has a more developed brain that can react to light and sounds. This is VERY true! He definitely is an active one! Sometimes it feels like he is throwing a temper-tantrum in there.

ER
Saturday, we had our first trip to the ER. :(
Kamryn after we got home from the hospital.
...again, with her cool sling...
Kamryn was playing on one of those bounce house slides at a birthday party when she fell on her arm the wrong way. She came to me screaming and crying. I didn't think it was broken, but she was in pain! Jimmy was at work, but the moment I told him about it, he insisted that I take her and get it checked out. Glad I did, even though the x-ray showed that it was not broken, just a contusion. She was given some pain meds, an ice pack, and a cool sling. Saturday night was pretty rough...but it has gotten better each day. She went to school today with her sling on (as a reminder to be careful, mostly).
I suppose that was yet another "welcome to parenthood" moment. :)

25 Weeks
Baby Jack is growing, growing, GROWING! He is about the size of a rutabaga/eggplant.
He is quickly passing the 1 ½ pound mark as he packs on the baby fat. His nostrils are starting to open (they’ve been plugged until now). And his vocal chords are developing and getting ready for their debut. (I CAN NOT wait to hear that sweet sound!) His wrinkled skin is starting to smooth out and he is still growing more hair...at this point we could tell color.
We are now 25 weeks! I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy is going! Everyone can call me crazy because they think it’s to early, but we are slowly working on getting everything ready at home. I’ve gotten all of our baby stuff out of storage...we don’t really have to buy anything except clothes and decor for his room because we chose gender neutral stuff with Kamryn. I’ve bought some stuff for Jack’s room and have started to work on it. Slowly. With Thanksgiving, Kamryn’s birthday, Christmas, and Jack’s arrival all happening within weeks of each other, I am nervous and want to get as much planned and taken care of as I can. (Plus I am a bit OCD.)
Kamryn is so excited! She always includes baby Jack in her prayers, which I love! We all can’t wait! :) December 1st will be here before we know it.

Fun at the Fair
We went to the fair twice this year....not because it was a great fair (because I was pretty disappointed in it). Kamryn had a blast though! So that is all that matters. The first night, Kamryn met Alyssa, Ashlyn and Colton at the fair. Night two was grandparents' night. :) Here are some pictures of little Miss.....

Dentist
Yesterday was Kamryn's first trip to the dentist....and an eventful one at that. I found this really great pediatric dentist on the internet for her that I was super excited about. We spent the morning doing a little shopping and went in about 1:30 for her appointment. She did great! She even told me that she wanted to go back by herself. (I am realizing with each passing day how grown up she is becoming.) The next thing we know this huge storm blows in from out of nowhere and the electricity goes out. My first thought was "Oh no! This will surely traumatize her and she'll never want to come back to the dentist." The dental assistant came out front to get me, because she was a little fussy. When I got back there, the assistant said she did great and even laughed when the lights went out....but after a few minutes she'd had enough. I hate that the lights went out, but the dentist and dental assistants were all wonderful! I am so thankful for them for being so sweet to Kamryn and making her feel so calm and happy (even under such abnormal circumstances). The lights were out for awhile, so we rescheduled our appointment and we will try again. :)
Anniversary
Yesterday, Jimmy and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary.
Happy anniversary Jimmy! I love being married to you! I am thankful that you love me, imperfections and all. I thank you for being the wonderful husband and father that you are....and thank you for always striving to be better than you were yesterday!

still going....
School is still going great! I talked to Kamryn's teacher this morning and she said that Kamryn is doing just fine....she asks when we are coming to pick her up often but isn't crying. But everyone that knows Kamryn, kows that this is pretty normal-she likes to ask questions and be informed....just like her Mama. :) She plays with her little friends and has a ton of fun stuff to learn! She is ready to go in the mornings and she comes home from school with fun stories of things she did throughout the day. We are very excited about the year and I think she will continue to do great!
Day 2...silly girl.
23 Weeks
Baby Jack is about to pack on the pounds! He already weighs over a pound and will add quickly now and by the end of the month will double in weight! Right now, his organs and bones are visible through his skin, which has a red hue due to developing veins and arteries beneath. But once those fat deposits settle in, he'll become less transparent.
His sense of movement is well developed by now. This means he can feel when I dance. (Kamryn and I dance around the house all the time....being silly.) Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that his increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
We go for our 23 week check up tomorrow. We don’t have a sonogram scheduled but I’ll be happy just to hear that sweet heartbeat. :)

22 Weeks
You guys have no idea how hard it was to name this sweet little boy. Jimmy and I couldn’t agree on anything! :) Until Jack Parker....
This week, Jack weighs in at 1 whopping pound and is about the size of a small doll or a spaghetti squash. He now has eyebrows, eyelashes, and maybe even some hair on that little head. He can now perceive light and dark, hear our voices and Mama’s heartbeat. And as his brain and nerve endings develop, he may reach for his face (or whatever he can reach) just to experiment with his newfound sense of touch.

Kamryn has given up on having a little sister and now refers to my ever growing belly as “Baby Jack”. :)
