We always have Christmas Dinner at my Granny and Grandaddy Pettit's house. I didn't take many pictures, but we had a great time.

Do you remember the excitement and magic of Christmas morning?
Having a child brings all those feelings back.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve, we decided to keep our calender clear and spend the day at home. Me-cooking, Jimmy-washing vehicles, Kamryn-helping Mama and Daddy and playing with the mountain of toys she already received for Christmas.

That night we enjoyed the wonderful meal that I prepared (if I do say so myself) and opened gifts. We put out special cookies for Santa, read our story about the birth of Jesus, and hit the sack early because we knew Santa would make his stop at our house!

I think it is very important to make sure our children know that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus...not about getting lots of toys. Since we have a 2 year old, we keep it simple; I have explained to Kamryn that we celebrate Christmas because it is Jesus's birthday....and that Santa delivers toys to the little boys and girls because that's what Jesus wants for His birthday. We talk about how special Jesus is and how much He loves us.

So simple, so true.

Here are some pictures of Chrsitmas Eve.

Alford Christmas

We had Christmas with my mom and Carlton this weekend because Brittany and Paul were in from California. We were SO excited to meet Little Miss Alexis. Kamryn loved her new little cousin....next year should be REAL fun with these two!

Tis the Season

I don't have any pictures to post but I had to share this experience with you. Yesterday, we donated some of Kamryn's old toys. (Yes, this was a little difficult for me as a mom because each of those toys hold memories.) I explained to Kamryn that we were going to give some of her old toys to other little girls and boys that didn't have many to play with. So we agreed to pack some up and give them away. We took the box to a local church center. I understand that she doesn't REALLY get it...but she understands as much as a two year old can. You have no idea how it warmed my heart to hear our two year old say "I share my toys" as we dropped them off.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

SANTA

Jimmy and I did not plan to be in the Santa picture, but Kamryn wouldn't sit in his lap. She didn't cry...just refused to go to him. Now she keeps saying "Santa bring me toys?". :)

Children's Christmas Program

We had our children's Christmas Program at church this morning. Kamryn was asked to walk down the aisle ringing a bell to announce the start of the program, but once we were there she refused. Oh well, she sat with the family and watched. I have to say, for a 2 year old that is normally in the nursery, she was very well behaved. We enjoyed seeing the children put on their program about the birth of our Lord!

parade

Kamryn enjoyed the Christmas Parade this year. Yes, it was cold; but we had so many layers on and even enjoyed the luxury of a heater! I didn't get many pictures and the ones I did get, didn't turn our very good....but here is one!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kamryn

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAMRYN CLAIRE!
This morning, I woke Kamryn up with a little birthday surprise. We've already celebrated her birthday with a party a couple of weekends ago. But (per her daddy's request) she needed a little "happy" on her birthday. So, last night, I baked her a cake. This morning, I gave her a present (some play/dress-up high heels, a Dora book, and an Elmo book)....and we enjoyed some CAKE for breakfast! (FYI: This is only acceptable on your birthday.) We miss you Daddy, but you got all the credit this morning....and Kamryn says "thank you". :)

...she's SUPER excited...

Blowing out her candles.
(Don't laugh at the cake, I have never claimed to be a "professional cake decorator". That's why we have someone else make the party cake!)

Her Grandaddy called and sang her "Happy Birthday" this morning. She loved it! Her Mawmaw called early this morning too....but Ms. Kamryn was still enjoyed her beauty sleep. :)

"Hhmmm...what's in here?!"
